Books about food synergy

"In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan

This is not exactly a book about food synergy but that's basically what the message is when you think about it. Pollan says we should eat whole foods in their traditional form and combine them as the tradition tells us - sounds like a very synergistic view on food I think!

Pollan writes the fascinating and frustrating history of modern food where we've compromised the nutritional value of our food by our focus on quantity and product shelf life.

I've read this bestselling book in two languages and I love it because it offers such a fresh view on food. Pollan's argument is that common sense, food tradition and the joy of eating will lead to good health - and not this reductionist view than a single nutrient or food will guarantee health.

"Food rules" by Michael Pollan

A very short book based on the studies and analysis Michael Pollan presented in his book "In Defense of Food". Here you will find 64 very simple rules that help you remove industrially produced foods from your diet and enjoy food more without worrying about single nutrients.

This a very good starting point for people who are interested in food but don't want to read a feature length book about it. The book is also a good reminder that one can read in an evening.
